Lilli&Tom: Valley Christmas as seen by Brisbane passers-by at night. Its fun seeing all the Christmas lights on in the window.

Some interesting features to note is the fabric quilt top canvas behind them is also one of my creations. The traditional patchwork name for the design is "House Top", these are like the corregated iron roofs that are so common in Brisbane houses. I've hand stitched this contemporary piece in a thin voile fabric in the manner of Korean wrapping cloths.

Also, there is a beautiful embroidered and beaded door amulet in the right hand corner made for the installation. The gold and brown wrapping paper has been hand stenciled with the Lilli&Tom house logo. The cussions I made out of a kind of thick furniture fabric remindes me of my grandmother's living room chairs where we would always spend Christmas.

The green grass on the ground symbolises our hot, summer southern hemisphere Christmas, where we often have Christmas lunch outside on the veranda or by the pool.
The Lights around the window remind us of the Christmas Light shows that happen in neighbourghoods all over Brisbane. They get bigger and more outlandish every year, much to the childern's delight. Posted by Picasa
