Lilli&Tom: Valley Christmas

This is the Installation window, Lilli&Tom: Valley Christmas, as it looked from December 12th 2005 to January 8th 2006 at Fox Galleries, 610 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Australia. Lilli&Tom are opening presents in a typical Australian Christmas scene.

Lilli&Tom had a wonderful time having Christmas in view of the whole city. People travelling in buses and cars and taxis and walking, heading into the CBD, would give Lilli&Tom a wave. Lilli&Tom would like to say hello to all their new friends. They can't wait to be out and about again meeting both old and new friends a-like. Posted by Picasa

Lilli&Tom: Valley Christmas as seen by Brisbane passers-by at night. Its fun seeing all the Christmas lights on in the window.

Some interesting features to note is the fabric quilt top canvas behind them is also one of my creations. The traditional patchwork name for the design is "House Top", these are like the corregated iron roofs that are so common in Brisbane houses. I've hand stitched this contemporary piece in a thin voile fabric in the manner of Korean wrapping cloths.

Also, there is a beautiful embroidered and beaded door amulet in the right hand corner made for the installation. The gold and brown wrapping paper has been hand stenciled with the Lilli&Tom house logo. The cussions I made out of a kind of thick furniture fabric remindes me of my grandmother's living room chairs where we would always spend Christmas.

The green grass on the ground symbolises our hot, summer southern hemisphere Christmas, where we often have Christmas lunch outside on the veranda or by the pool.
The Lights around the window remind us of the Christmas Light shows that happen in neighbourghoods all over Brisbane. They get bigger and more outlandish every year, much to the childern's delight. Posted by Picasa

Novas Infinite Greetings

These little creatures are called Novas Infinite. They are another of my FlyingStarToys. Novas Infinite come from another dimension and feed on electromagnetic radiation. They're very handy to have around the modern home or office as they keep the radiation levels down. They also make great pets and companions.

Lilli's is the light blue one, she calls hers Whatsie. The grey one is Tom's, he calls his Novas Infinite Gizmo. For Lilli&Tom they are really living pets. Lilli&Tom love to take them everywhere they go. Keep your eyes out for Whatsie and Gizmo in all the photos.

Whatsie and Gizmo had a great christmas, they hope you had a good holiday season too. Posted by Picasa
